INNOVATIVE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION

The half-fairing makes the GT version even more unique and lets you get the very best out of the V2 850-engine performance with Sportgear transmission. A two-cylinder engine that with its 76 HP and exceptionally flat torque curve gives excellent performance already at low revs, in acceleration, pick-up and at speed, and is the perfect match for the touring soul of the Mana 850 GT and the motorcyclist's need for responsiveness.

Intelligent transmission
The primary drive is the focal point of the entire Mana range. The Sportgear transmission offers the
rider a choice of different driving modes:
• Sequential mode: The rider decides when to change gear by using the conventional control on the pedal or by pressing a switch on the handlebars as desired. An electronically-controlled servo mechanism acts on the main pulley which changes the gearshift mode with seven gear ratios amazingly quickly. Only during deceleration, if the rider does not manually change gear, the engine automatically changes down gear using the Semi-Sequential function and preventing the minimum RPM threshold from going below the set limit. Another valuable aid to safe riding.
• Fully automatic mode (Autodrive): the sophisticated electronics control everything and the CVT transmission keeps the engine running at maximum torque speed for optimum pick-up and acceleration. The rider can choose from three different mappings:
1. Touring: for those who want a softer power delivery and minimum fuel consumption;
2. Sport: for maximum performance and quick acceleration;
3. Rain: on wet or slippery roads in maximum safety;
Semi-Autodrive mode only allows the rider to change down gear. This is useful for overtaking at maximum torque revs or when riding down a hill when engine braking is required.

You can switch from Autodrive to Sequential mode and vice versa at any time and in any riding conditions. The handlebar gearshift control can be disabled from the dashboard.
With this technical solution, the Mana GT 850 adapts perfectly to any type of road and offers
relaxed cruising or exhilarating sports riding depending on the rider's needs or wishes.

ELEGANT DESIGN AND INGENIOUS SOLUTIONS
Mana GT 850 uses the same technical base as the Mana and shares the same exclusive and unmistakable Italian design. The original fairing with adjustable windshield that surrounds the
characteristic round headlamp, a distinctive feature of the Mana range, is practical and elegant.

The 16-litre tank is located under the saddle in a lower position to distribute weight more evenly
and lower the bike’s centre of gravity making it incredibly light and easy to ride. Where the tank
would normally be is occupied instead by an illuminated storage compartment lined with non-slip, non-scratch material and big enough to hold a full-face helmet as well as a mobile phone holder and a 12V-power socket. All this offers storage capacity which is virtually unheard of in the world of motorcycling.

SPECIAL CHASSIS
The refined chassis on the Aprilia Mana GT 850 guarantees relaxed, safe handling on all road surfaces. The robust steel tube trellis frame has a single piece aluminium swingarm that directly controls a laterally-offset shock absorber that frees precious space for the exhaust pipe in the delicate area behind the engine which makes the motorcycle very compact and manageable when changing direction both in town traffic and when out riding in the hills during the weekend.

On the Mana GT 850 the spring preload and damper rebound can be adjusted with a knob and has been moved to the outside. It can be easily accessed for quick and precise adjustments to adapt to your own particular riding needs and bike load (passenger, luggage, etc.).

The 43-mm upside down fork slides easily and has an optimised set-up that suits the new weight distribution and the touring nature of this bike.Its 120-mm front wheel travel allows you to effortlessly tackle all sorts of road surface and offers the right support even under sport riding conditions.

SAFETY FIRST
The Mana GT 850 is the most versatile motorcycle on the market with the most complete range of
technical equipment that focuses on the concept of safety. The only one in its category, the efficient braking system, which has a front system with 320 mm discs and radial calipers, combined with a latest generation two-channel Continental ABS system that increases active and passive riding safety even when braking on difficult road surfaces avoiding locking up the brakes as well as improving braking performance. In fact, on the Mana 850 GT ABS all riders can fully use the bike’s generous braking power in perfect safety on any road surface.

The total concentration on riding guaranteed by the Autodrive gearshift mode even in busy city traffic. Plus traffic light burning acceleration for an agile, responsive and quick motorcycle that pulls you away from any emergency situation as well as Rain mapping to help when riding on road surfaces with reduced grip.

DESIGN:
Dorsoduro 1200 is a radical, outrageously agile and sporty bike. It makes no concessions whatsoever for ornamentation or for anything not directly functional in achieving total performance and riding pleasure. This is why all body parts are cut down to the bare minimum; just like a proper race machine, the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 eliminates anything that is of no use to the rider. No frills, for a
bike that prefers to put its superlative mechanicals and componentry on show instead. Every detail is minimised and focused on pure function, such as the all-new hand guards and the motard-style race number panel, which also offers wind protection at higher speeds. These elements complement the pure design of the Dorsoduro 1200 perfectly, with an outstanding attention to detail evident in features
such as the two-tone paintwork of the frame, the tail fairing colour-coded with the rest of the body elements and the new dual exhaust with black heat shields. Even the 15 litre fuel tank is perfectly integrated into the sleek forms of the Dorsoduro 1200.

Dorsoduro 1200 a bike with the soul of a pure motard racer. The ultra-narrow mid section of the bike - the area that interacts most with the movements of the rider's body when riding hard - emphasises the extreme compactness of the bike itself. The rider becomes an integral part of the machine and can move freely in the slender and perfectly straight saddle to dominate the brutal power of the engine in all
situations. None of the typical acrobatics of the motard style are beyond the reach of this bike.

THE 1200 cc V90 ENGINE: THE STATE OF THE ART IN TWIN CYLINDER TECHNOLOGY

The Aprilia V90 is a completely new design. It is a modern, technologically advanced unit with a highly oversquare cylinder geometry for a markedly sporty temperament and smooth power delivery.

Every internal element of the Dorsoduro 1200 has been designed to optimise power delivery and make full use of the incredible 130 hp unleashed by the engine at 8700 rpm. Every single detail is conceived to complement the outrageously acrobatic character of the bike.

• 90° V-twin architecture;
• Triple map Ride by Wire technology (with Sport, Touring and Rain maps);
• Highly oversquare bore/stroke ratio;
• Offset cylinders for maximum lateral compactness;
• Four valves per cylinder;
• Double overhead camshafts driven by a mixed chain/gear valve timing system;
• Twin spark ignition for smooth but full-bore power delivery;
• Electronic fuel injection with dual throttle bodies;
• Stick-coils integrated in spark plug boots;
• Three-way catalytic converter with oxygen sensor;
• Hydraulically operated clutch.

The latest generation injection system uses micro-nebuliser injectors. In conjunction with optimised fluid dynamics, this solution ensures ideal combustion, for an engine that is not only powerful but also extremely clean. Twin spark ignition also contributes to cleaner emissions, as well as ensuring totally
smooth power delivery.

With sophisticated electronic engine management, the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 is the new benchmark for technology and performance in its class.

Aprilia was the first manufacturer to believe in the potential of Ride by Wire, a highly sophisticated technology that helps the rider extract every ounce of performance from the motorcycle. The electronic throttle management system used in the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 represents the current state of the art. Even more precise and sophisticated maps ensure optimised engine management, keeping the engine in the perfect conditions to deliver maximum acceleration at all times for a riding experience unlike anything you've ever seen before. This solution also ensures smoother, fuller power delivery at low and medium engine speeds, for optimised engine efficiency even in low load, partial throttle conditions.

SPORT: extreme, for when you want to put yourself to the test with immediate and direct explosive power.
TOURING: smooth, for making full use of the shattering power of the 1200 cc engine in all conditions.
RAIN: balanced, with power reigned in to 100 hp for maximum fun even in poor grip or wet conditions.

With its state-of-art technology, the Aprilia V90 unleashes class-beating levels of power. No other maxi motard comes close to the performance of the Dorsoduro 1200: with 130 hp at 8,700 rpm and a maximum torque of 115 Nm at 7,200 rpm, this engine sets new records for the motard genre. To further emphasise the performance of the engine, a new 2-into-1-into-2 exhaust system has been
designed specifically for the bike. Made entirely from stainless steel, the generous internal volume of the system ensures a spine-tingling and distinctive sound.

THE FRAME: FEATHER-LIGHT BUT ULTRA-STIFF
Aprilia bikes have always been considered as the benchmark for chassis excellence by those in the know. And true to tradition, Dorsoduro 1200 is the most effective, best balanced bike in its class.

While tailored for total riding fun, as with all Aprilia bikes, the chassis layout of the Dorsoduro also earns respect for its formidable dynamic balance. With the Dorsoduro, extreme agility does come at the cost of a nervous temperament, and its highly effective chassis layout ensures total precision and a sensation of being directly connected to the front wheel. And this is something that can only be said of very few motards out there.

The mixed frame design, constructed with a sturdy tubular steel trellis mated to lateral aluminium plates, is highly acclaimed by both enthusiasts and experts alike, while the aluminium saddle mounting contributes to lightening the bike. The product of Aprilia's experience in the world Supermoto championship, the frame offers perfect balance in terms of stiffness to deliver supreme handling, even
with the explosive power of the new 1200 cc V90.

The lateral and steeply raked position of the rear shock absorber is a precise engineering choice, determined after testing numerous different configurations. This solution frees up precious space for the generously sized exhaust headers, which are needed to fully exploit the potential of the 1200 cc engine. This made it possible to optimise the layout of the exhaust system without adding unnecessarily to the length of the bike, while also protecting the shock absorber - a vital component in its own right - from high temperatures.

SUSPENSION: PERFORMANCE UNDER CONTROL
The suspension of the Dorsoduro 1200 has been designed to fully exploit the incredible performance of the engine and offer the best solutions that anyone could ever desire in an extreme motard. The 43 mm Sachs upside-down fork with shellcast calliper brackets features adjustable spring preload and hydraulic compression and rebound damping. In addition to permitting total adjustability, this extremely sophisticated component offers class-beating progressiveness and a full 160 mm of wheel travel, in perfect keeping with the supermoto riding style.

The side-mounted Sachs gas shock absorber with separate canister is pivoted directly onto the swingarm in a cantilever configuration and features adjustable spring preload and hydraulic compression and rebound damping. A component allowing experienced riders to explore the full potential of the bike's performance, even on the track. The rear wheel stroke is 155mm, again in line with the supermoto philosophy that aims for an effective, controlled suspension but with a long stroke.

BRAKES: RACING TECHNOLOGY - ALSO AVAILABLE WITH ABS
The Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 adopts the state of the art in brake technology: at the front are 4-piston radial Brembo callipers gripping 320 mm floating discs. The 240 mm rear disc is also braked by a Brembo calliper - in this case a single piston unit.

Both the front and rear brake systems employ aeronautical grade metal braided hoses, which eliminate the undesirable pressure fluctuations of conventional hoses for maximum braking precision and truly class-beating stopping performance.

Dorsoduro 1200 is also available with a two-channel ABS system, which can be deactivated by the user directly from the instrument panel. This ABS system is specifically calibrated to let the rider fully exploit the power of the brakes and the grip of the tyres in the dry, so as not to detract from the immense fun of this bike.

The Dorsoduro 1200 is also the only maxi-motard available today with traction control: Aprilia Traction Control (ATC), an exclusive traction control system working in conjunction with the sophisticated ABS system, which allows the rider to make full use of the performance of the exuberant 1200 cc engine, to tackle even the most challenging terrain and most difficult conditions in safety.

The system offers three different selectable traction control levels which adapt each of the bike's dynamic parameters to suit the personal needs and preferences of the rider:
  • Level 1: for an extreme riding experience and maximum fun and adrenaline, when curbing the incredible power of the engine is the last thing on your mind.
  • Level 2: for total control in all terrain conditions and maximum thrill factor.
  • Level 3: ideal for tackling challenging conditions, such as slippery roads where grip is poor.
COMPONENTRY: TOP OF THE CLASS
Motards are by definition essential or even spartan. This, however, does not mean having to do without class-beating premium content. Aprilia moves the bar even higher for its rivals with top class features components. The most significant of these are:

• Matrix instrument panel: the mixed digital-analogue instrument panel receives information via the CAN line and, with its own dedicated event log memory, is an integral part of the self-diagnostic system. Particularly compact, with a modern design and considerably reduced weight. All functions are accessible from a control on the handlebar. The LED backlight - white for the analogue area and
red for the digital display - has three different brightness settings.
• The anodised aluminium tapered handlebar is an unequivocal reference to competition supermoto bikes. An incredibly light component, designed to guarantee top dynamic control of the bike.
• Ensuring consistently precise engagement and exemplary smoothness, the hydraulic clutch is self-adjusting and, as a result, maintenance-free.

Aprilia SXV 450, 2011

Aprilia SXV 450, 2011

Features
DESIGN

As with all Aprilias, a tremendous amount of care and attention has been lavished on even the smallest details on the SXV. As a result the SXV boasts a unique, unmistakable styling that is nevertheless fully functional in achieving unrivalled performance, because first and foremost even the standard SXV is a genuine competition motorcycle.

But the SXV is not just a pretty face. Your gaze is held by an abundance of advanced technology. One glance at the V2 engine, mixed trellis and aluminium frame, mighty swingarm and central exhaust system with twinned silencers under the rear mudguard, and you cannot escape its magical attraction.

ENGINE: CONTINUOUS EVOLUTION
The amazing 45.2 engine is, of course, the centre piece of SXV technology. Aprilia was the first manufacturer in the world to believe in the validity of the V twin for supermotards, a segment in which all other marques still cling rigidly to single cylinder engines. Aprilia’s high-tech V twin design has already proved 100% reliable in competition. Even homologation for road use has not compromised the technology and performance of this exceptional engine, which is produced entirely by Aprilia. Since the earliest stages of the design process, the 45.2 has evolved to keep pace with chassis development and to give the SXV an unbeatable mix of power and handling.

The 77° V angle is the result of extensive testing, aimed not only at boosting power but also at reducing vibration. As a result Aprilia’s engineers have been able to eliminate engine balancer shafts.

Despite this the 45.2 engine still vibrates far less than any single cylinder alternative.
The cylinders themselves are integrated in the crankcase and have replaceable wet liners. This unique layout has allowed the engine ancillaries to be arranged in a way that achieves extremely compact dimensions. The results are amazing: the Aprilia V twin is one of the most compact V twins in the world, and smaller in size than many singles of similar displacement. All design choices have been taken in order to obtain maximum power plus an extended useful power band. The sophisticated electronic engine management system, developed by Aprilia Racing, incorporates numerous innovations for the off-road sector.

The injection system features 38 mm throttle bodies (40 mm on the 550) and is managed by a programmable control unit. The ECU will be able to switch between two different mappings at the touch of a switch on the handlebars. This extremely useful innovation offers a full power mapping for use in conditions of good grip, and a second, softer mapping for smoother power delivery under difficult conditions. The system provides an extremely valid aid to control and has been welcomed both by expert riders (the system was actually tested in the final phases of the world championship) and by supermotard fans in general. All you need is one quick click to select exactly the right power for the circumstances.

Reduced unitary displacement has allowed Aprilia to develop an extremely compact and lightweight crankshaft. The engine is more responsive to variations in throttle opening as a result, and the bike as a whole is faster and more manoeuvrable thanks to the reduced gyroscopic effect from the crankshaft.

The single overhead cam configuration with four titanium valves per cylinder head represents an ideal compromise between compact size, light weight and high performance.

Thanks to its advanced technology, the 45.2 is also an extremely silent running and ecological engine. Technology, after all, should mean reliability and longevity as well as high performance. The 45.2 engine touches new heights in this direction, and permits extremely easy access to parts requiring regular maintenance like the spark plugs, oil filter and air filter.

Just as much effort has been put into weight reduction, and the 45.2 engine sets a new record for a V twin with an electric starter. Abundant use has been made of prestige lightweight materials. The central crankcase sections are in aluminium-silicon alloy; external engine casings are in magnesium; the valves are in titanium; and all gears are exceptionally light in weight.

The choke is new too, and features a knob on the airbox instead of a handlebar control. Even the air filter has been improved and is now made from a sponge material derived from that used on Aprilia’s official racing machines.

A closer look at the unique characteristics of the 45.2 engine:
  • - Electronic fuel injection with 38 mm throttle bodies (40 mm on the 550 engine).
  • - Dry sump lubrication with separate external reservoirs for gearbox and engine oil to avoid contaminating engine oil with particles of clutch friction lining, and for extended lubricant life.
  • - Single overhead cam with four valve heads
  • - Single piece crankshaft
  • - Cylinders integrated in the crankcase with wet liners
  • - Maximum engine speed 12,500 rpm (450 motard)

CHASSIS: LIGHTER THAN EVER

An uncompromising machine like the SXV demands a great chassis. The perimeter frame is a tubular steel trellis structure interference fitted to pressed aluminium side members to form an extremely rigid whole. The engine itself forms an integral part of the chassis, acting as a load bearing element and contributing to overall rigidity.

The variable section aluminium alloy swingarm is a brilliant example of industrial design. More than just an eye-catching design solution, this revolutionary swingarm offers the highest structural rigidity available in this class of motorcycle. The rising rate suspension linkage is damped by a fully adjustable Sachs monoshock with piggy back cylinder and two different hydraulic settings for high and low speeds. The calibration of the rear suspension has been modified to improve stability and control over rough surfaces and a new linkage system has been introduced to make the damping action of the monoshock more progressive, increasing both traction and control.

BRAKING SYSTEM
The advanced technology and high performance of the SXV chassis are reflected in a superb braking system. The SXV features FTE calipers and lightweight wave discs (320 mm at the front) for maximum braking control even under the most challenging conditions.
The 240 mm rear disc is braked by a single piston caliper for a perfect combination of power and control.

 COMPONENTS: READY TO RACE
All parts of the Aprilia SXV is of the very best quality available.
Among the many prestige components are:
  • - Digital instruments: ultra-lightweight, compact and designed to provide all the information a rider could possibly need.
  • - Magura tapered aluminium handlebars with no cross member for optimal elasticity and control
  • - High luminosity LED tail light
  • - Aluminium oil filter cover
  • - New engine start push-button (instead of the old ignition key block)
  • - New racing electrical system

SXV VDB Replica
Developed entirely from the input of Aprilia Racing, the SXV VDB Replica is the pinnacle of Aprilia’s competition machines. With no further modifications whatsoever, this motorcycle is able to compete in and dominate any competition in the world. The SXV VDB Replica is the first step in the evolution of the machine that Aprilia will be entering in the Supermotard World Championship.

The VDB Replica differs from the standard SXV in a number of important technical details that make this already highly competitive machine even faster on the track. The 77° V twin engine, available in 450 and 550 cc versions, is substantially similar to the standard power plant but features modifications to a number of fundamental transmission parts. The multi-plate wet clutch incorporates a sophisticated slipper device to make handling smoother and more efficient on entry into bends, and the gearbox features new ratios plus a brand new electronic control unit linked to the ignition system, allowing the rider to avoid using the clutch when shifting from one gear to another, resulting in faster gearshifts and less weight transfer under at-the-limit riding conditions.

Just like the standard SXV, the new VDB Replica offers two different engine mappings that can even be switched during the course of a race simply by pressing a switch on the handlebars. This unique feature lets you adapt the engine’s power delivery to changing track conditions and levels of tyre wear.

The chassis too incorporates various improvements. The frame is lighter still, thanks to design changes mainly involving the die cast aluminium side members, and the swingarm is shorter and lighter than on the standard SXV. At the front, a mighty, 50 mm fork with three different offset settings is bolted to two aluminium yokes machine from a single billet. The brakes are completely different too. The combination of a Brembo single piece radial front caliper and a 320 mm wave disc represent the state of the art for this type of machine.

The other elements that make the SXV VDB Replica unique are its Alpina 16.5” front and 17” rear wheels with hubs machined from single billets, carbon fibre fuel tank, stepped seat to prevent the rider sliding back under acceleration, Arrow under-seat exhaust and super-lightweight titanium fasteners

Aprilia SXV 550, 2011

Aprilia SXV 550, 2011

Features

All parts of the Aprilia SXV is of the very best quality.

The new VDB Replica offers two different engine mappings that can even be switched during the course of a race simply by pressing a switch on the handlebars. This unique feature lets you adapt the engine’s power delivery to changing track conditions and levels of tyre wear.
